|Inline with the Deyata Kurula 2011 program , HDFC Bank Sports Club selected Sri Suboda Vidyalaya, a school situated in Buththala, facing Buththala-Katharagama road to rehabilitate as a CSR project. This school provides education up to grade 10 and there are approximately 100 students who have undergone many hardship due to inadequate building space, study materials, library facilities, sports, sanitary and water facilities. Lack of teachers and the threat of wild elephants were also the major issues they are facing. When HDFC initiated this project the school was virtually in a dilapidated condition with a steady decline in the number of students, majority of whom were from the low income farmer families. From an estimated cost of Rs. 4.5 million, project cost was reduced by ¾ with dedicated volunteer labor provided by the HDFC Bank staff and the villagers.
HDFC Bank built two buildings which consist of a Science, Computer and Agricultural laboratories and a meeting hall. Also the necessary equipments were provided including computers, tables, chairs, etc. Furthermore, sports equipments and study materials were also offered to the students.
