HDFC Bank of Sri Lanka was recently honored with the "Certificate of Recycling" for the year 2025 by Eco Spindles the country’s leading plastic recycler. The Head of Marketing of Eco Spindles Mr.Dilukshan Jayasekera presented the certificate to the General Manager/CEO of HDFC Bank, Mr. Hemal Lokugeegana, at the Bank’s Head Office. 

The certification recognizes the bank’s total plastic collection through its extensive bin network, which has been operational since October 2022. The initiative facilitates the responsible disposal of PET plastic waste, which is then processed by Eco Spindles into value-added products like polyester yarn and bristles, contributing to a sustainable circular economy.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Hemal Lokugeegana noted that the bank’s environmental initiatives are a core pillar of its corporate responsibility. This recognition highlights the bank’s significant contribution to environmental sustainability through its total plastic collection throughout the year, and we have received this certificate for the third consecutive year. By integrating waste management into our branch network, we provide a practical way for our stakeholders to contribute to a cleaner environment," he stated.
