» Sticker campaign by HDFC Bank

HDFC Bank initiated a public awareness campaign to paste stickers, targeting commuters of public transport, offering guidance on preventing risks due to the prevailing security condition of the country. Housing Development Finance Corporation Bank of Sri Lanka (HDFC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka recently with the objective of empowering the self-employed sector in the country. This Self Employment Promotion Initiative ("SEPI") loan Scheme will focus to provide financial assistance to trained youth who pass out from vocational training institutions, come under the purview of Ministry of Skill Development and Vocational Training (MSDVT) to start self-employment projects.

At the Annual General Meeting held on 30th June 2016, Mr. Lionel Jayasinghe was appointed as a Director on the Board of HDFC while Mr. Prasad Galhena was reappointed to the Board, both as Shareholder Directors. Further Mr. D. P. Wimalasena was nominated as an ex officio Director to the Board from the Treasury with immediate effect. The HDFC Bank is the only public quoted licensed specialized Bank, in Sri Lanka. 51% of the Bank's shares are owned by the State.

» HDFC Celebrates World Habitat Day at Seevali Maha Vidyalaya, Borella.

In commemorating World Habitat day 2014, HDFC Bank organized a special programme at the Seevali Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Borella recently with the collaboration of UN Habitat Colombo office. HDFC bank who fulfills 30 years of service in the housing finance sector has further extended its services to customers with the recent ceremonial opening of its refurbished Kalutara branch.

» HDFC Matara Branch relocates.

In view of further extending its expedited banking services in a more efficient manner for its customers, the HDFC Branch in Matara relocated to spacious premises recently. The branch is now at No. 07, in the HGPM building at Kotuwegoda. HDFC Bank won the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Sustainability Reporting Award 2012 for the 3rd consecutive year at a gala ceremony held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo on 20th February 2013. The award ceremony was organized by ACCA. The ACCA Sustainability Reporting Award has been kept at the apex of the most recognized corporate recognition schemes in the world, especially in the growing field of sustainability reporting and disclosure. » HDFC Bank helps 300 affected families in Raththota.

HDFC Bank offered assistance to the people affected by the recent floods and landslides in Raththota by donating essential items. The staff members of the Bank participated in the distribution of flood relief in several village areas of Raththota Divisional Secretariat in Matale district.

» Sri Suboda Primary School Development Project, Buththala.

Inline with the Deyata Kurula 2011 program , HDFC Bank Sports Club selected Sri Suboda Vidyalaya, a school situated in Buththala, facing Buththala-Katharagama road to rehabilitate as a CSR project. This school provides education up to grade 10 and there are approximately 100 students who have undergone many hardship due to inadequate building space, study materials, library facilities, sports, sanitary and water facilities.
