Mr. H. B. Keerthirathna carries over 35 years of extensive experience in the finance industry having held pivotal senior roles across various sectors.  His career began at Sampath Bank PLC in 1988 as a Management Trainee and progressed through the ranks to retire as Assistant General Manager - Finance after an excellent career progression. 

During his tenure at Sampath Bank PLC he has handled areas of International Trade, Treasury Back Office, Foreign Currency Banking, Branch Management, Strategic Planning and Finance. 

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Special)  Degree with First Class Honours from the University of Colombo and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Colombo. He is also a Certified Business Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and an Associate member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.

Following his career at Sampath Bank PLC he performed as a Consultant for the Sampath Bank Group providing insights and guidance to subsidiary companies; Siyapatha Finance PLC, Sampath Centre Co. Ltd., SC Securities Co. Ltd., and Sampath IT Solution Co. Ltd. As a consultant to the subsidiaries of Sampath Bank PLC, he successfully led strategic initiatives that converted financially distressed subsidiaries into profitable ventures. 

He has also served as the Chief Financial Officer of Fintrex Finance Ltd.

He was nominated by Sampath Bank to participate in a transformative leadership program at Harvard Business School, USA. He also holds a General Management course by the Asian Institute of Management in the Philippines and participated in various technical and training programs across Singapore, Malaysia, India, Thailand and Dubai. 

Mr. H. B. Keerthirathna is currently a Director of the National Insurance Trust Fund Board (NITF) and he also performs the role of Chairman of Board Investment Sub Committee of NITF. In addition, he is presently engaged in providing financial consultancy services to Professional Business Consultants (Pvt) Ltd.
