The funds collected through this account will be invested in green products and environmentally sustainable projects, allowing account holders to contribute for a collective effort towards a sustainable future.
Each Go Green account holder will receive a green investment certificate, recognizing their contribution to this meaningful initiative. In addition to the environmental impact, customers will also benefit from a special interest rate, making Go Green savings a smart and responsible choice for them. As part of the bank’s commitment to reduce paper usage, customers are invited to use online banking and digital channels for convenient access to their Go Green accounts.
This launch follows several activities by the Bank during National Environment week declared by the government. The week began with three tree planting projects, launched in collaboration with schoolchildren to instill a strong sense of environmental stewardship among the younger generation. The inaugural event took place at Watareka Kanishta Vidyalaya, where students and staff actively participated in tree planting, followed by an engaging seminar on environmental protection and sustainability.
Continuing the momentum, similar events were held at Crist King College – Pannipitiya and St. John’s College – Nugegoda, which encouraged students to take an active role in protecting the environment.
In addition, HDFC Bank staff, including the Chairman and Acting General Manager/CEO, participated in a beach cleanup initiative at Wellawatte beach, emphasizing the bank’s leadership commitment to environmental action and community engagement.
To further support World Environment Day, HDFC bank also ran a digital awareness campaign through its official social media platforms, sharing educational content and tips on reducing plastic usage and promoting recycling.
